Network Myths
Many decades ago when I (the Prodigal son) arrived in New York City I was fortunate (by the Grace of God) to obtain a Rent Controlled Apartment. A neighbor of mine inherited some money and she and her husband decided to move. She told me that they were going to move into a luxury apartment and they would be rubbing elbows with the rich. Then they would learn the secrets to getting rich. About 5 years later their marriage was over and she was not in great shape. She was selling some handmade items she had designed on the street in Greenwich Village. He was employed as a news photographer and remained employed. This was during the “Tune-In Drop-Out” Culture.
More recently I was speaking with a young man who was working as a cashier so he could attend New York University for his BA. Once there at NYU, he would get into the Network. Many young people believe this myth, unfortunately, it is not true for those of low socioeconomic and middle-class families. Save your money and obtain your undergraduate degrees from a City or State University.
You can also marry into the Network but even that is difficult. Within the upper 10% of society, there are many different levels based on their Family Connections and WEALTH. They are not bad people it is just the way it is. Back in the 70s I met a gorgeous woman who was a billionairess. There was a connection and I enjoyed spending some conversational time with her. She showed me the MANSION she grew up in. She told me that she never had a chance to play in all the rooms since there were so many. The pictures she showed me of this Mansion were incredible and left me speechless. She was about 10 years older than me and she was beautiful. We kept it conversational since I was looking for LOVE and found it with Shirley who later became the biological mother of Jolene and me the biological father. I remain to this day humbled before God.
